Counseling
The Naugatuck High School Counseling Program is vital to young people as they learn to cope with and emerge into adulthood. It is designed to promote autonomy and a sense of personal responsibility in all students. Each student is a unique, developing individual who should learn from experience and who will continue to grow personally, socially, and educationally throughout adolescence.
Focusing on the areas of academic development, personal/social development, and career development, the NHS Counseling Program meets the developmental needs of all students through a planned sequential program of individual, group, and classroom activities. In doing so, counselors will function in a number of different capacities including counselor, consultant, teacher, manager and role model.
Counselors work as a team in conjunction with teachers, administrators, parents, and community resources to assist students. The program promotes effective communication and life planning skills that help students grow into responsible adults and good citizens in our diverse world.
