Student Shadow Process

We have updated our process for students who are interested in spending a day “shadowing” a current Naugatuck High School student to assist in their decision-making process about transferring to Naugatuck High or attending Naugatuck High from a local private school.

Any questions or concerns will be handled by our School Counseling Office at 203-720-5424 or 203-720-5404.

Step One: Contact the School Counseling office to inquire about setting up an opportunity for your student to shadow. Please be prepared to share some information about your student (grade, areas of interest, dates that your student is available based on permission from their current school) so that your student can be paired with a student who may share some common interests.

Step Two: Complete the “Student Shadow” medical and emergency contact form and return it (via email, fax or in person) to the Naugatuck High School Counseling Department.

Step Three: Once the School Counseling Office has confirmed that they’ve received the necessary form, they will reach out to confirm a date for your student to come in for their shadowing experience.

Please bring your student to Naugatuck High School for the start of the school day (homeroom begins at 7:30 a.m., we recommend arriving by 7:20 a.m.) on the day of their shadow. You and your child will meet with a School Counselor to begin the day. You are then welcome to leave and your child will be introduced to their guide for the day. They should bring their lunch or money to purchase lunch in the cafeteria. Naugatuck High School has implemented an “Away for the Day” electronics policy so your student should be sure that any electronic device that they have is off and away in their bag for the duration of the school day (until 2 p.m., lunch being the exception).

We look forward to welcoming your student to Naugatuck High School!
