Sunrise

Sunrise is an environmental and social justice group geared towards combating climate change through our own individual efforts, by holding corporations accountable, and by creating sustainable, effective, and diverse climate jobs.

The Sunrise Movement was founded in 2017 by environmental activists Sara Blazevic and Varshini Prakash and has since expanded throughout the country. There are hundreds of hubs in America, with the Naugatuck High School Hub being one of them.

In years past, we have held community cleanups, book clubs, organized events, researched legislation, campaigned for climate politicians, and led lessons with younger students. We are planning to further our impact from past years while adding to our project scope.

Many projects done with Sunrise can be logged for community service hours. If climate action is something that you are interested in, please join the Sunrise Google Classroom with code q65jxp7.
